Blue eyes narrowed dangerously as Glorfindel watched the occupants
of the room; through the slightly ajar door. All this time he had
been waiting, all this time hoping and hurting; for what! Ecthelion
was finally back with the living; the dark one he had long chased
during there days in Gondolin. But where was Ecthelion now? Resting
on a couch with Erestor held tightly on his lap.

Erestor! Of all the stuck up, cold, arrogant elves! When Ecthelion
had ridden into the courtyard of Rivendell earlier he had eyes for
no one but that upstart Librarian. Oh he had greeted the Lord of the
realm and his family as one should; but after a brief nod to
Glorfindel he had swept Erestor up in a tight embrace; one he had
seemed unwilling to cease.

With a caring smile Elrond had permitted the two dark elves to take
their leave; but upon questioning by Glorfindel had refused to give
to reveal his knowledge of the relationship between the two.

But now Glorfindel knew; knew why all those years ago Ecthelion had
never bowed to his courting, had rejected the blonde without a
moments thought; he obviously thought that Erestor could give him
everything he needed.

Sneering to himself Glorfindel knew that there was no way Erestor
was any good in bed; the arrogant counsellor had never had a lover;
yet Glorfindel could name five very satisfied elves within five
seconds. And surely Ecthelion couldn't enjoy the prickly, cold
nature of Erestor fea. No one dared come close to Erestor for fear
of being told off for treading on his shadow.

And yet. there they were; cuddled up together just staring into the
fire.

Glorfindel didn't think he had ever been more infuriated; and by
proxy, more determined. There was no way he was going to simply
accept this. Ecthelion would be his; he hadn't done all that he had
in Gondolin just to have it fail now that they were both reborn.

Spinning away; not paying attention to any noise he might be making,
Glorfindel left. He had this whole night to start planning ways to
make Erestor see the truth: Ecthelion was his!

"What was that?" Erestor yelped softly, coming out of his light
doze; hearing noises from the hallway.

"Not sure" Ecthelion replied soothing the younger elf on his lap by
stroking the long dark hair. He smiled when Erestor relaxed back
into his embrace.

"I missed you so much" Erestor whispered. "It's been so hard since
you were gone"

"I know" Ecthelion said just as quietly. "Namo allowed me to watch
you occasionally from his Halls; it pained me to be apart from you"

Erestor smiled sweetly, safe and content within the loving
embrace. "I love you Adar"

"I love you too, my little shy peredhil"
