Summary: Glorfindel finds something strange in the woods and it
changes his life.
Notes: As evidenced by the new chapter of `Recovering from the Past'
I'm not putting it on hold. I'm actually trying to finish and clear
stories I've had on hold. Also I won't be by a computer for a few
days, cos I have to go flat hunting. Anyone around Archway, London
that knows of a small flat or studio for rent? No, damn I guess I'll
be looking around then. Point is `Recovering' will have to wait til
the end of the week.

Glorfindel grinned as he watched the babes he once found in the
woods celebrate their majority. The constant attempts for their
attentions showed how beautiful they had become over the years. He
would never forget the night he'd found them.
::BEGIN FLASHBACK::
Glorfindel sighed as he made his way through the trees, extended
patrol always drain the other ellon and he was no different. But at
least this turn was coming to an end; they'd be back in Rivendell
tomorrow. Heading back to camp Glorfindel's sharp ears caught a
small noise; almost the meowing of a cat. Fond of all animals
Glorfindel tracked it, hoping the animal wasn't injured. His eyes
widen in surprise at what he found.
There lying between the roots of a might oak were two small babies;
clinging to each other. The one with a thatch of black hair was
mewing in distress, the one showing traces of white hair lay within
his arms; silent but wary.
Two tiny sets of eyes; one black, the other green; widened as they
caught sight of his blonde form. Although they couldn't be more than
a few weeks old their eyes stayed trained on him as he carefully
approached. The darkling one had quieted.
Making soft cooing noises he crouched down beside them, eyes still
staring at him. Hesitant to reach out, Glorfindel watched in
amazement as a small hand rose to reach out to him instead. So as
not to startle them he stretched out a hand and smiled when tiny
fingers wrapped around his thumb.
The distress faded from the darker babies' expression and after he
had made a soft noise to the lighter, he too took on a more serene
expression. Glorfindel was amazed at how they were able to
communicate at such a young age.
As the wind grew around them both of the little ones shivered,
offering no resistance when Glorfindel gently scooped them up; and
holding them to his chest, draw his cloak around them. He felt a
strange stirring in his heart when they both cuddle into him for
warmth.
"Never fear pen-neth, I will take care of you"
::END FLASHBACK::
Although it had been discovered that they were elven; no one had
come forward to claim them. So it had seemed that they had claimed
Glorfindel instead; with him happily taking on the role of mentor to
them.
He remembered the occasion when he realised just how lovely they'd
grow to be.
::BEGIN FLASHBACK::
Followed by his shadows Glorfindel went about the corridors of
Rivendell; greeting elves as he went. The younglings behind him
giggled to each other and smiled when greeted themselves; but didn't
speak.
Their lack of speaking wasn't due to shyness; they never spoke.
Elrond had once commented that they seemed to communicate with each
other much like Elladan and Elrohir occasionally did. And the twins;
in their eleventh century, had taken it upon themselves to be uncles
to the two.
Glorfindel smiled as he heard more giggling from behind him; a sound
he missed while out on patrol. Although only fifteen years ago, he'd
forgotten what is was like before they had come into his life.
"Erestor? Lindir?" Glorfindel turned to his charges. "Shouldn't you
be heading for your lessons now?"
Black and green eyes looked at him steadily, before a white head
nodded fractionally. Glorfindel knew it wasn't a dislike of their
lessons; or teachers, that kept them from their learning's. When he
was newly back from patrol they didn't want to let him out of their
sight; Elrond had suggested it was to convince themselves he really
was back and uninjured.
Erestor flung himself into the blonde's arms, his eyes flashing and
black hair flying; giving and receiving a big hug. Lindir took his
embrace next; more sedate but no less eager; green eyes warm with
affection for their protector. Once he let Glorfindel go Lindir
claimed Erestor's hand and with one more look at their protector the
two went off.
He watched them disappear around the corner; black and white hair
intermingled as Lindir rested his head on Erestor's shoulder.
Although they spent time with elflings their own age it was rare to
find them apart.
A few years later, on the day of their thirtieth begetting day they
had finally spoken; although many suspected that they spoke to each
other in private quite often.
Glorfindel had presented them with their gifts in the Hall of Fire;
a lyre for Lindir and a flute for Erestor. Their love of music had
been with them since he had returned with them to Rivendell that
windy night. Once upset the only thing that could calm them if
Glorfindel was on patrol was music.
They had opened their gifts and carefully setting them aside once
fully looked over; flung themselves on Glorfindel. In the silence
that followed; with everyone looking on with huge smiles a small
voice had been heard.
"I love you Glorfindel"
Shock now hung across the room as Glorfindel had untangled himself
to sit cross legged in front of two kneeling elflings'. Looking from
face to face he couldn't decide whom had spoken the words.
"We love you Glorfindel" Lindir said quietly, a look of unabashed
adoration on his face. Erestor smiled at Lindir before turning back
to Glorfindel.
"Sorry, yes *we* love you Glorfindel" Erestor stated with his
trademark half smile on his lips.
The blonde had sat in shock, hearing their lyrical voices for the
first time; and that they would choose an expression of love for him
to be their first words. Black and green eyes watched him carefully.
Glorfindel looked at them and realised that the little babes he had
once cuddled were growing up into beautiful ellon. Their soft
musically voices matched the beauty in those eyes; the slender forms
showed early elven grace and their faces were as beautiful as their
souls; they both had a kindness and generosity that put many to
shame.
Drawing them back into his embrace Glorfindel smiled. "I love you
too pen-neth"
::END FLASHBACK::
Now as Glorfindel watched them select dance partners he felt an ache
in his chest. They had never agreed to call him Adar; always
referring to him as Glorfindel, as if they didn't truly need a
father; and now that they were all grown they would need him even
less.
If he was honest with himself Glorfindel would admit that some of
the ache came from their beauty; outside and inner. The love he felt
for them wasn't completely platonic.
Glorfindel turned and walked away into the shadows. His time of
protecting them was over; they would most likely find bed teachers
this night and then their innocence would truly be gone. He would
check later to make sure they had chosen ones whom would not abuse
the gift given them; but he would not influence them.
Choosing a patch of grass he laid his cloak down before resting upon
it. Staring up at the stars; lost on reverie, he didn't notice the
smaller presences approaching later that night.
As Erestor and Lindir lay down either side of him, Glorfindel awoke
with a start. Although when he tried to sit up he was gently held
down be a hand on either side. He sighed when he realised who at
woken him and cuddled them close; feeling them snuggle into him as
well.
"We enjoyed our party Glorfindel" Erestor said.
"But we wish for our last gift from you" Lindir continued seamlessly.
The blonde between them looked puzzled and they rolled their eyes at
each other over his chest. Lindir winked and Erestor smiled as he
sat up and straddled Glorfindel's hips.
"We claim you as our last gift Glorfindel" Erestor told the shocked
elf below him, grinning as Lindir gently nuzzled the blondes
neck. "We love you, and wish to be with you always"
Struggling to ignore the sensations of having Lindir breath tickling
his neck Glorfindel somehow formed words. "That's what you meant all
those years ago; and why you never called me Adar"
"Yes" Lindir spoke directly into his ear. "We have loved you from
the moment you found us in the woods, when Erestor took hold of your
thumb we loved you"
Gasping at the thought Glorfindel gave into the feelings swirling
between the three of them. Turning his head he took Lindir's mouth
in a passionate kiss, discovering that the white haired elf tasted
like mint.
With the hand that wasn't holding Lindir, he blindly reached out to
grab the front of Erestor's tunic and breaking the current kiss
turned his head and captured Erestor's mouth. Whereas Lindir had
tasted of mint; Erestor tasted of cinnamon.
After releasing Erestor, Glorfindel watched as the two younger elves
kissed above him. No one in any Elven realm had ever figure out
where these two beautiful creatures had come from; and as they look
down at him after pulling apart he could only wonder at everyone's
fortune that he had found them that day.
"Come" Erestor said tugging at Glorfindel's hand. "Will you come
with us now and love us?"
Glorfindel smiled at their eager, youthful, beautiful faces; and
said a single word. "Yes"
