Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory's so clear

He had ever loved Erestor, and he knew that Erestor had loved him.

Only Erestor could never tell him those three words. He knew how Erestor felt, but he only wished for him to say them once, only once. They started slowly growing apart and then Glorfindel took a lover. He broke his vows to his husband. The shame of doing so keeping him from seeking Erestor out. From talking to him, communicating. It was their downfall.

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are my
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

It had started slowly, him avoiding Erestor by coming back to their rooms late, usually drunk. But he could not resist holding his husband in his arms. He would imagine himself taking Erestor and hearing him say those three words. Those three magick words that would make him the happiest Elf in all of Arda.

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight
To see you smile

If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

He never meant to hurt Erestor, for he truly did still love him. But he didn't feel as loved as he needed. No those words weren't important as Erestor showed him how he felt with his actions. His tender touches, the looks in his deep black eyes, his smiles. For Glorfindel it soon became not enough. He needed more. He needed those words.

Words that Erestor felt would make him seem weak if he spoke them.

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

Glorfindel started staying out all night, walking the gardens and then he truly met him. He knew who he was, had spoken with him many times. But one night he offered Glorfindel comfort and Glorfindel took it.

He ignored the fact that his lover had black hair and eyes like his husband. He ignored the fact that he was also a scholar. The only thing he reveled in was those whispered words. Those three words.

It made it so easy to imagine it was his `Tor.

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above

It finally came to the point that the only time he entered their rooms was to change clothing. He only made the mistake once of not bathing before he came back, and the heart break in Erestor's eyes made him make sure that never happened again. But he could not bring himself back to his husband's bed. Not when he had one who would whisper those words to him. Whisper those words he desperately needed.

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Then he came upon Erestor in the woods. He was laying upon the ground, his breathing shallow. Glorfindel was immediately off his horse and had Erestor in his arms. He checked him over for injuries and found none. He gently stroked his face and called his name. `Erestor?' Erestor had opened his eyes and smiled softly with tears in his eyes.

`I let you go Glorfindel.' Was whispered to him and he felt his
heart clench in fear.

`I love you.' Glorfindel closed his eyes at the whispered words and felt tears stream down his face as the body in his arms went limp.

Erestor had faded from grief and it was his fault. All his fault.

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Glorfindel picked his body up and mounted his horse. The Elves with him were silent with their own grief at witnessing this. When they arrived at the Last Homely he carried his husband's body to the healing rooms, followed by a question Elrond. With shame he had to admit to all his transgressions. Tears still streaming down his face. Elrond patted his shoulder and left, leaving Glorfindel alone with his husband to say his good byes.

Glorfindel's head lifted from the pillow later when he felt a hand touch his shoulder. He looked up to meet the sad gaze of his lover. He drew himself closer to the body of his husband.

"I'm sorry Melpomaen, but you know I have ever loved him." Melpomaen nodded.

"That is why I am here meleth. To tell you I understand." He bent down and gently kissed Glorfindel's lips and then sat on the bed next to him and held his hand waiting. Tears slipping from his eyes as Glorfindel's eyes glazed over and then closed. Crying when Glorfindel's last breath left his body.

I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Glorfindel was welcomed into the Halls of Mandos and into the arms of his husband.

"I love you Glorfindel."

"And I love you my dearest Erestor."
