Erestor moaned softly, rolling over to curl up to his husband. A
small frown touched his face as he blinked and came out of reverie.
He found the bed empty and raised his head to look around.
"Glorfindel?" He called out softly.
He looked to the window and saw that Anor was just starting to
rise. Yet, it was still early enough for the birds to not have
woken yet. Where could he be? He heard a small gurgle and smiled
softly, rising from the bed and donning a thin sleeping robe. He
tied it loosely around his waist and made his way to the adjoining
room.
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes
Dinyaveiel had been born just three months prior, a joy to he and
Glorfindel's lives. It had shocked them both when Elrond had
explained why he had been so sick. It was very rare for a male elf
to become pregnant, and Erestor had felt blessed by the Valar to be
one of the few that could do so.
He moved to the doorway and with a soft smile leaned against the
door jam, watching Glorfindel with their daughter. He was sitting
in a rocking chair with her cradled safely in his strong arms. So
tiny compared to her Adar. One of Glorfindel's strong, long
fingered hands was gently stroking her jet black curls as he stared
down into brilliant blue eyes that matched his own.
In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes
Erestor watched as one of those strong warrior fingers stroked softly
down her cheek, to rub gently against the moue of her ruby red lips
so much like his. A small hand came up and fisted around that
finger and Erestor watched Glorfindel chuckle as she drew that
finger into her mouth and started suckling.
"Are you hungry little one?" Glorfindel whispered. He gently
pulled his finger from her grasp and without breaking eye contact
with his daughter, reached for the bottle sitting next to him. He
offered it to her and she eagerly took the nipple into her mouth,
soft satisfied little grunts coming from deep within her as she
fed. She stared just as lovingly up at her Adar, as he stared down
at her. Erestor smiled softly through developing tears as he
watched a tear track down Glorfindel's face, listening to his
husband talk to their daughter.
And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
"Ah little Dinyaveiel, I have been so blessed. I had always
accepting of the fact that I would never have children as Elleths
never touched me in such a way. I had your Ada in my life and was
content with that.
When he got sick I became so worried. We could not figure out what
was wrong with him, as the two of us had never experienced an Elf
being sick as he was. When Elrond told us what it was, I was scared
at first. I had thought this would never happen to me, but as soon
as it truly hit me I was so overjoyed."
Erestor's tears fell harder as he continued to listen to his husband
speak softly to their daughter.
It's hanging on when your heart
has had enoughIt's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes
"It was so amazing little Dinyaveiel to watch your Ada start to
swell as you grew within him. To lay my hand upon his belly and
feel your light. To feel it shine brighter and brighter with each
passing day. Then came the day that you first moved.
It was amazing to lay my hand upon him and to feel the first soft
flutters and then later your strong kicks." Here Glorfindel
chuckled a bit. "He swore you were going to be an Ellon from your
movements. That you were going to be a warrior just like me." Here
he chuckled again. "Well you still will be will you not? You are
going to be the greatest fighting she-elf on all of Arda."
Erestor smiled when Dinyaveiel stopped sucking on her bottle long
enough to coo and smile greatly, up at her Adar. She took the
bottle again and continued to watch Glorfindel intently, as if
waiting for him to continue his story.
In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes
"Aye you will be the greatest, and you will be famous too! And when
all the Ellons come to court you, they will have to go through me.
It will only be the best for my little girl."
He picked her up and put her over his shoulder and started to gently
rub her back. He chuckled softly when a small burp erupted from
her. Pulling her back down into the circle of his arms, he started
rocking her, singing softly. Dinyaveiel yawned, her sweet little
face scrunching up as she did so, and soon she was in reverie.
Glorfindel continued to hold her, staring down at her in an awed
manner. Erestor finally moved forward as Glorfindel looked up with
a smile.
"How long have you been there?"
"Long enough."
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes
Erestor bent forward to place a soft kiss upon his daughter's brow,
then placed one upon Glorfindel's lips. He sat down upon the floor
and lay an arm across Glorfindel's knee and then lay his head upon
it. He stared lovingly between Glorfindel and little Dinyaveiel, a
soft smile gracing his features.
"I love you Glorfindel." He whispered softly.
"And I you my sweet Erestor." Was whispered back just as softly.
And the two Ada's were content to watch over their daughter and her
dreams.
In my daughter's eyes
